Semester-Long Courses

The GWP offers a series of cutting-edge courses to prepare graduate students for writing and presenting in graduate school and beyond. In these courses, students learn how to produce sophisticated and discipline-appropriate academic writing. We also offer department-specific versions of GS 750: Introduction to Graduate Writing and short courses on Grant Proposal Writing and Manuscript Preparation for post docs.

NOTE: All students taking GWP courses are expected to adhere to University policies regarding research integrity such as human subjects, animal care and use, scholarly misconduct, and so forth. For more information, please visit the Research Integrity web page.

Short Courses

The GWP fields short courses designed for specific groups of writers on such topics as grant proposal writing.  These courses are typically a few days to one month in duration and provide writing support to writers.  In these short courses, participants get instruction on and write, for example, grant proposals and get feedback on their writing.  These are offered on a fee for service basis.  Contact Christine Jensen Sundstrom at for details.

Department-Specific Courses

The GWP can offer department-specific sections of courses including Introduction to Graduate Writing and Thesis/Dissertation Writing.  Contact Christine Jensen Sundstrom at to negotiate the details.
